Default creating a list from an existing list

hi!

is there a formula that can create a list from an existing
list for some specific creteria. so kind of an iteration.

so say in one sheet i have list with colums Name, Address,
Phone no.
Now i would like to pull out certain records(just Names,
not other columns)in another worksheet.

AutoFilter wont work as i have too many blank rows in the
list

i know this was posted earlier and m not sure if anyone
responded.

Note: copying advanced filter results to other worksheets requires making the
destination worksheet active then running Data Filter Advanced Filter
because Excel will only return data to the active worksheet. Make this a bit
convoluted.
