Default inbox not synchronizing

When I try to synchronize the outlook folders, I get the message "TAsk
Microsoft Exchange Server reported an error 0x00040820: Errors in background
synchronization. In most cases Information is available in a synchronization
log in tyhe Deleted Items folder.

When I check the deleted folder I find out that the Inbox is not
synchronizing. I have tried all the solutions provided in the log and also in
the article relating to this error message, but nothing doing.

Any help pls!

James

Thanks Oliver for your response but I have tried this also. Actually, my .ost
file is less than half 500K and my exchange mailbox files is also less than
500k.

I have deleted and recreated the ost file. I have tried a different profile,
I have made sure that my office is fully updated...but nothind doing.

Any more help please!

Thanks,

James

Default inbox not synchronizing

Hi James,

I found some additional informationn on this site:

http://www.bjkresearch.com/bugblog/bb0305.cfm
There is a 1.82 gigabyte limit in the size of a Microsoft Outlook 2002
offline folder (an .ost file). If you try to synchronize a Microsoft
Exchange Server mailbox that is over the limit, you may see this error
message, which does not indicate a problem with the size limit:
Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x00040820): Errors in
background synchronization.
The obvious workaround is to clean out all the old junk from the folder to
get it smaller; you can also move it to a non-synchronized folder instead.

It seems that not the sitze of ost/pst indicate the problem, it is a size of
a synchonized folder which is on the limit. Clould you check the size of
your folders.

What Exchange Version do you have? 5.5?
With MAcAffee?
http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtop...06e54a455af2f0

Have a look also on this additional microsoft sites with the error number
0x00040820:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;264731

Here is another interesting diskussion about this error:
http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.c...=100541&page=1

I hope one of the website will have the solution for you.

Default inbox not synchronizing

We receive the same error message yet we are told to look in the Sync Issues
folder. Unfortunately the advice we are led to at Microsoft does not pertain
to this issue. Oddly enough, the inbox synchronization errors only occur when
Symantec Antivirus/Filtering for Exchange 3.0 is running on our Exchange 2000
Server. If we turn of this Symantec application, the errors disappear and we
can receive mail again. Symantec has no support articles relating to this
issue. It appears that the AntiVirus application is interfering with
Exchange/Outlook inbox send/receive.
