Outlook checking for messages when closed
I'm not sure how this happened, but Outlook 2k3 SP2 has started to check for
email even when the application is closed. The icon in the taskbar has decided to persist - I can only hide it now. This screws me up as there are times when I can't get more than a dial-up line when on the road - not ideal for RDS. |

Did you install anything recently that can be keeping Outlook.EXE from
terminating? "asemcken" wrote in message ... I'm not sure how this happened, but Outlook 2k3 SP2 has started to check for email even when the application is closed. Not knowingly - the only thing I use in conjunction with Outlook is SynchPST,
and that can't run with Outlook active. The program seems to be terminating - there's nothing in the taskbar. I can't seem to turn off the icon that shows up in the system tray, and it keeps searching for messages. But Outlook.EXE is most likely still running. Do you have anything like
Google Desktop or other desktop search program installed? "asemcken" wrote in message ... Nope - nothing that I can easily identify. I'll look through the Task Manager.

The icon in the taskbar has decided to persist - I can only hide it now. If you click the X in the upper right or click FileExit, Outlook WILL close, unless something else, like a cradled PDA, is keeping it open. -- Brian Tillman |

I've removed the palm software (pda hasn't been used in over 2 years,
probably about time...) - without a restart, it seems to have 'cured' it. I'll kick it over the next day or so and see what's up. Thanks for the pointer.
