Default NOT SEEING EMAILS IN BACKUP FOLDER

I back up all my OE folders onto another HDD. However, when I deleted all
the emails in one particular folder in OE on the C drive, and then went to
the same folder on the back up drive, it opened up in OE and showed it was
empty. I know that it is not empty because it has a 20kb size and I can see
part of the emails within this folder when I use notepad or word to open the
email folder on the back up drive.

How can I view the emails on the backup folder when I have deleted the
emails in the original source folder?

Thanks

I'm not sure how you achieved all this, but a 20kb folder is empty. In fact,
I have never seen a dbx file that small. A new, but empty folder is 75KB.
Did you try to move the message store by any chance?

Default NOT SEEING EMAILS IN BACKUP FOLDER

Sorry - i meant 20 MB. The folder in OE on my C drive that I deleted all
the emails from shows 58KB whilst the same back up folder located on my
other HDD still shows 20MB i.e. it contains the emails confirmed by opening
with note pad and word. However, when I try and open up this folder
located on my back up drive with OE , the next window that pops up is the
traditional OE window where the folder I expected to see emails inside - is
empty. It would appear that when I try and open an OE folder on a drive
other than the C drive, OE defaulst to the C drive view - if this makes any
sense(???)

OE can only see the files in the current message store. Not one on another
drive. Import the one folder in question back into OE.

Hi kandinsky63,

When you say you back up all your OE folders onto another HDD, are you
backing up the Outlook Express Store Folder with a Backup Sync Type Program
or manually copying the folders? Are you backing up the with Outlook Express
open or close? It does make a difference.
