When an e-mail is sent, the message contains a "
From" line which includes my name and e-mail address. How is the spelling
of the name changed in that "from" area?

It's on your account properties Under User Info "Your Name" and "email
address." Change it there. You can put anything you want there. It doesn't
have to match your actual ISP settings. You can put a nickname there if you
want.
