Multipe positions for a same employee
Hi,
When I am making an org chart using an excel file, if 1 employee has more than one position, I got an error message saying that "Invalid data: 3619. Eliminate duplicates in the column (field) that uniquely identifies each record." But I need to have both positions in the org chart so the employee has to appear twice in the org chart maybe not in the same manager line... Thanks for your help. Regards, Assé |

The Wizard won't accept duplicate entries. You could fool it by adding an
initial such that the entries look different. Then, if you want, go back and edit the names in Visio. Note, this approach produces separate boxes for the same employee. Alternatively, you can copy and paste the employee box to the 2nd and other reporting chains. Or, if you only want a single box, then you can use the dotted line to connect the employee to his alternate managers. Hope this helps. You could consider making an Org Chart of Job Positions, which are occupied
by Employees. "WapperDude" wrote in message ... The Wizard won't accept duplicate entries. You could fool it by adding an initial such that the entries look different. There is a way to get single employee to be shown with multiple reports and
in separate boxes. The easiest way to explain it is to create a simple org chart by hand, with at least one employee shown twice. Use the export wizard. The resulting Excel file will contain the necessary formating and can serve as a template. Rather than using an initial to trick the import wizard, the Excel file contains separate and unique shape ID's. Enjoy! Wapperdude "WapperDude" wrote: The Wizard won't accept duplicate entries.
