When I run Word 2007 it starts a Configuration Progress
I have both Office 2003 and Office 2007 installed on the same computer. When
I alternate between the two versions of Word, they each go into a setup mode. If I only run Word 2003 - no problem; or if I only run Word 2007 - no problem. But when I switch from Word 2007 to Word 2003, Word 2003 runs a setup procedure. This only happens the one time immediately after switching, but it is annoying. Then when I switch back over to Word 2007, it opens a Configuration Progress window. Again, this only happens the one time, but it is a considerable delay. Any insight on this problem? |

You can modify the Windows registry as described in
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=928091 "Information about using 2007 Office suites and programs on a computer that is running another version of Office" to stop the setup mode/procedure. *Mark_M* wrote: I have both Office 2003 and Office 2007 installed on the same computer. Office '03 is far easier to use if only because the stuff is where you expect to find it. They moved everything around in Office '07 and nothing is where it belongs. If you frequently receive DOCX (Office '07) files, MSoft has a patch that lets Office '03 open them. I found the learning curve for '07 applications to be more than I like to deal with, so I put '03 onto all of my machines and removed the trial version of '07 that came pre-installed. |

Yes, Office '03 is a ton easier (for those of us who don't like change) but
my daughter who uses '07 in school prefers '07 over '03. She is not hindered by the notion of "being old and set in your ways"! "Jeff Strickland" wrote: "*Mark_M*" wrote in message ... Well, if you were any kind of a parent at all, your kid would use what you tell her to use, and then she could become old and set in the same ways that afflict us oldies. |
