Access Crashes When Deleting From Subforms Or From Related Tables inTable View
I have witnessed this problem in my own database and in Northwind with Access 2000 and Access 2003. I have a main form with three nested subforms. The following sequence either dumps me unceremoniously from the database or it displays the an error, "Microsoft Access has encountered a problem and needs to close." : 1. Click the plus sign on the first subform to open the second subform. 2. Click the plus sign to open the third subform. 3. Enter some data if none is present 4. Close the nested subforms. 5. Select the same record in the first subform by clicking to the left of the plus sign. 6. Try to delete the record in the first subform with the Del key or by right clicking to display the submenu. 7. At this point, I almost consistently get the "... needs to close ..." message or Access closes without a message or other warning. I have experienced this in: (1) open tables with relationships defined; (2) with subforms bound to those tables and (3) with subforms bound to tables that do not have relationships defined but do have Parent to Child links. I have tested it with XP SP3 and the lasted hotifx and version of Jet on three different machines. I have also experieced it on Access 2007 on Vista Ultimate. In Access 2007, I was using a 2003 version database, and the message that I got was, "This operation is not supported in transactions." Of course, I was not using transactions. I have compacted and repaired the database. I have decompiled. I have taken steps to eliminate the Name Autocorrection bug. I have relinked my subforms with same named text boxes on the subforms. I have removed ALL codebehind form my forms. I have burned an eye of newt with hair from a suckling pig while kissing a virgin on Friday the 13th in the back of my cousin Elmo's 1958 Ford. CAN ANYBODY OUT THERE GIVE ME A CLUE? |
