Default Send Issue with Gmail

We currently use Google Apps' gmail. I'm in the process of setting up
everyone to use their verision of Outlook.

I've just configured one user's Outlook 2002 client to point to their gmail
account and cannot get the send mail option to work. The "Test
connection..." button verifies incoming POP3 but balks at my username or
password when it sends a test email. Other users are not affected. The other
variables are as follows:

pop.gmail.com
smtp.gmail.com

Advanced Settings:
POP - 995 (SSL)
SMTP - 465 (SSL)

Does anyone have any idea why I can't send mail from this account?

Oh, come on. "Balks"? Exactly what does that mean? If you get an error
message, post the exact text of that message.

The Test Account Settings error reads specifically:

"Send test e-mail message: Unable to send test Message. Please verify the
E-mail address field."

Thanks.

Post exactly how you have configured the account, including the outgoing
server settings. (Don't include any real usernames or passwords, of
course). Did you read the gmail help pages?

Please disregard. There were two offending PC's with 03 versions of Outlook.
Each also had a Office 2007 Compatibility program installed (whether or not
it matters). I uninstalled everything and installed Office 2007. POP and
SMTP are now working.

Regardless, here are the details:

OS: XP Pro
POP Setting: port 995/SSL
SMTP Setting: port 465/SSL
Entered was their fully qualified email address for any textbox requesting
an email address OR a name.
I re-entered their passwords countless times.

I disabled third party firewalls and ensures that the Windows firewall was
configured like the dozen other machines that had successful Outlook
configurations.

Thanks Brian for your help. Perhaps you're hoping for a more definitive
answer but I just don't have the resources to focus on that now.
