Default My old laptop died - Tranafering accounts to new laptop

I'm going to close out this thread and start a new one for transfering
the user account info.

Thanks again.

OKAY!!! All of my previous folders are now in place, along with the
messages that were in them. Now, how do I tackle accounts and the
address book?

Thank you so much for the help!!!

Casey

Both the old laptop which died and my new one are XP Pro.

I am not able to execute the old version of OE. The motherboard died
on my old laptop, but the hard drve is fine. I took the drive out of
the old laptop and it is now a USB drive on my new laptop. So, going
to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder on the old version of
OE is not an option.

However, I can do this on the new version and it might be a clue as
where to look on the old drive.

I'll be back.

Include Hidden Files and Folders in your search.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of
your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder
location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then StartRunCtrl+V will put the location
in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the
location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer.

In Windows XP, 2K & 3K, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options |
View.

It sounds like everything depends on getting these .dbx files off the
old drive. How do I do this? I did a search on that drive for .dbx
and it came up empty.

Am I out of luck?
