How to automatically enter text in a letter?
Hiya
I would like to find out how to go about autmatically entering worker's names and job titles at the end of a letter. It's a particular letter I use quite frequently where I enter different workers with their jobtitles at the bottom of the letter - it's what you put after a signature - some workers share the same jobtitle. I hope this is clear. Thank you |

How to automatically enter text in a letter?
This sort of thing usually is done using Mail Merge. You put the variable
information into one file (a data file) and the unchanging information in another file, insert mail merge fields where you want the variable info to appear, and then do a mail merge. In Word, press F1, then search for help on "mail merge". -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Charmy" wrote in message ... How to automatically enter text in a letter?
For this application, though, I might just use AutoText entries.

How to automatically enter text in a letter?
I guess it depends upon how many different workers there are. If Charmy has
hundreds--or even dozens--then AutoText could prove a bit unwieldy. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Suzanne S. How to automatically enter text in a letter?
Agreed. In past years I would never have recommended mail merge for a task
like this, but the one thing I really like about the "new" MM is the ability to pick individual records from the data source. I use this weekly to mail Rotary bulletins to members who missed the day's meeting. It's a very simple matter just to check off the recipients and then merge to the bulletin address document. This might still be impractical for a really huge data source, but with just ~100 members it works very well. -- Suzanne S.
