link video and sound in document to email without losing sound

In the past I have created word docs with some sound & video and
they played good, as far as they were played on the same computer
which saved the video and sound;

However, I tested it by sending a copy to my self and couldnt play
neither the video nor sound.

I havent been able to bind all files together to send thru e-mail nor to
burn a DVD, How do I do it, step-by step??
