I have a similiar problem. Outlook did not install as part of Office 2007.
Now when I try to delete Outlook using remove programs I get the following
message "The patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch
package exists and that you can access it......."

Any advice?

Thank you very much for your help. I did uninstall 2007 but cannot uninstall
or reinstall Office 2000 - think it is a problem with Windows installer

Did you change hard drives between the time you first installed it and now?

The most likely cause of this, then, is the failure of whatever tool you
used to copy the old data to the new drive to include the hidden system
folder C:\Windows\Installer. Windows Installer puts service pack and update
install packages in this folder and it needs to find them there if you wish
to make a change to a program. You didn't use MaxBlast, did you? I know
for a fact that MaxBlast (from Maxtor) has this problem, although Maxtor
wouldn't acknowledge it when it did the same thing to me. I had to manually
copy that folder to the new drive before Windows Installer was happy.
