Default switching back to outlook from express

The problem is, I can't get into Outlook now. So I can't move my contacts.
And when I try to sign in to Outlook Express now, the following comes up:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.optonline.net',
Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

So I guess I am still kind of unable to use my e-mail, or to get to any of
my old messages that were still in Outlook.

Thanks for continuing to try to help me.

It looks like I figured it out, somehow, but as of this moment, all
the stuff I had in my account on my computer isn't there. Will it
show up after I restart?

No. Now that Outlook Express has been set up, you must move the data from
Outlook to OE. To move your Contacts, in Outlook click FileImport and
ExportExport to a file. Choose "Comma Separated Values" (either "DOS" or
"Windows"). Select your COntacts folder and click Next. Specify the file
path and name and click Next., then Finish. Once you have generated that
file, open Outlook Express and click FileImportOther Address Book, select
"Text File (Comma Separated Values)" and click Import. Browse to the file
you created in the previous step and click Next, then Finish.

To transfer your messages, in Outlook Express click FIleImportMessages,
select "Microsoft Outlook: and click Next. Select only the message folders,
like Inbox, Outbox, and so on, since OE doesn't know what to do with
Calendar, Tasks, Journal, Contacts, and the like, and click Next, then
Finish.
