How do I lock a Microsoft Doument so that no one can change it and when I email it to someone the dotted lines are not there?

A small child turns to Ed, and exclaims: "Look! Look! A post from Adopt
a Pot Adopt a !"...

I would recommend creating a PDF file, using Adobe Acrobat or one of the
free alternatives (such as PrimoPDF -
www.primopdf.com)

That's what I was going to post but I was certain someone would jump on my
case about having responded that way.

Well, I had scanned it to Adobe but it changed the document size from 486KB to 1MB which is too large for me to email.

Rather than scan the document in and save the resultant file as a .pdf,
download PrimoPDF and create the .pdf directly from that program. You'll
find your file is smaller than the original. (Ijuat did a test on a 1+MB
file. The .pdf created with Primo is now 73KB.)

You may want to try the pdf creator that beats Adobe for file size,
PDF-XChange.

The new PDF-XChange Lite goes for $20.
