Default Can't Load

I purchased Xcel 2002 At. Curcuit City. It won't load on
the Gateway PC I bought in February. I get the following
setup message: "Setup failed to find a qualifying
product on your machine. Please select the drive where a
qualifying product may be found." I've tried selecting
the CD drive but get "Error 1608 Setup was unable to
locate a qualifying product". Trying to load from the
control panel gives the same results. I'm new to the PC
and havn't figured out how to send this message to the
Microsoft help line. Their 425-635-7056 number promises a
long wait. Any suggestions? Thanks

It sounds as if you purchased an Upgrade version of Excel. This means that
you must have (or at least have a number for) a qualifying product in order
to install the upgrade version on your machine.
