Links Mapped Drive Letter Changed
Is there anyway to change the drive letter existing links are using automatically, instead of opening each file and clicking on Edit-Links-Change Source?
Background: We have been using a folder for several years that was mapped on the client's pc to O:\, the folder has moved to a new server and the mapping is S:\. We would like to update all the links to change the O:\ to an S:\. As a workaround I mapped the users to O:\ and the links are working. But our new standard is S:\. Thank You. |

Ana,
Open all the files, and then save the "independent" files. The "dependent" file (the one containing the references to the others) will automaticly adapt thelinks to the new location of the independent files. -- Regards, Auk Ales * Please reply to this newsgroup only * * I will not react on unsolicited e-mails * "Ana" wrote in message ... A.W.J. Ales, Thank You, but the problem is that we have many linked files. We are looking for a way to automate the change. Is there any type of script or tool to use that can search the folder and change the links to S:\ instead of the O:\ mapping.

If the source workbook for the link is in the same directory as the destination workbook (or a subdirectory thereof) then there is no need to do anything. Such links are held as relative and so would not need to be changed. If the above does not apply and you do need to change a significant number of workbooks then my prototype Link Manager application may be helpful.
