Default Uninstalling Office 2000

LOL. It needed to (install) do this since you have deleted some of the files that Office 2000 needed. When the install is 100% correct then you will have the option for removal when you start the install. Go and try again. If the install is correct then you will have the Remove option show up for you.

BTW Did you reboot after the install was finished?

OK - I selected Install and it went through configuring and then I had some

versions, then it said I needed to restart to complete installation, did
that, when it booted up again, it said Finishing 2000 setup - completing MO2K
install - - heard it chugging away, then I got the same message as when I
tried to use Excel (1st post) "The application must be installed to run.
Please run setup from the location where you originally installed the
application" (the blue bar said "Office"). I never got the Remove/Uninstall
option.

Any other thoughts?

Office 2000 can only be removed with the original installation CD. It

The SB edition was generally supplied as an OEM version.

I would suggest you tried uninstalling O2k Pro, either via Add/Remove
or
using the Pro cd.
Then undo your rename of the origonal Office folder.

Finally use this tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239938
hopefully that will remove O2k SB. Once done install O2k Pro

OK - years ago I installed Office 2000 Small Business (in 1999).
My
computer
is acting weird and now when I open Excel it does open the app,
but as
soon
as I click on the spreadsheet I get "The application must be
installed

be
run. Please run setup from the location where you originally
installed
the

uninstall
Office 2000 from my Add/Remove Programs - it was not listed
(actually
there
are a lot of programs missing). So this is what I did -- I
renamed the
Microsoft Office folder (under Program Files) to Microsoft
Office -
OLD.
Then I tried to install Office 2000 Prof. Edition. Installation
went
fine -
but again, the Excel app gave me the same error. I looked at
the new
Microsoft Office folder (under Program Files) and the dates for
the
install
were the 1999 ones. Why didn't it use the install from today
12/31/06?
So I
figured I just uninstall both Office 2000 Prof and Small
Business - -
but
I
don't see Office 2000 Small Business in my Add/Remove. How can
I
remove
it
completely? I thought if I got rid of both, and reinstalled the
Prof
Edition
- I would be all set. HELP!!!

Default Uninstalling Office 2000

glad you can LOL - this is so frustrating. OK - I did try again and I did
get the remove option - - I selected it and it went through and said
complete. When I went to Windows Explorer to change the folder I renamed to
MOffice - OLD, the other folder was still there, even after I removed it
through the CD. So, now can I delete the folder and it's contents. Or do I
run the utility you sent, see if that wipes out the folder then rename the
"OLD" folder and run the utlitiy again?

Default Uninstalling Office 2000

I deleted the folder and the contents. I then ran the Eraser utility. (the
MOff folder is still there - do I delete that folder now?) when it rebooted I
got that message again"The application must be installed to be
run. Please run setup from the location where you originally installed the
application." I think that's because when I reboot - it tries to start
Office. So, another question - is where do I make the selections of what
gets started at reboot. Also - is my next step to delete the folder then
reinstall MSOff Prof?

Sorry that I have NO clue what I'm doing - - I'm trying!
