Simple English when asking a question is more appreciated than an attempt
at
humor.

A Simple answer to a Question is always more appreciated than a scolding -
Don't like attempts at humor
then don't be surprised if instead I offer youo an attempt at anger!

What did you buy, and what is the exact problem. Insert the CD and see
what
version you have that you are having the problem with.

I already told you what I bought and the question is about the proceedure
not whether it is version
1.0.3.0.43.0.9 or 1.9.4.5.6.7

Sounds like if I give you the exact version you will give me the same non
answer anyway!
Next time I ask a question don't answer, since most of the answers following
yours were at least somewhat helpful

instead consider taking some exercise by walking to his nearest store to
buy a new Office 2003 box! Simple and Bill Gates becomes a happy man!

I found your question amusing, perhaps as ammusing as you found mine?

I always wondered if I was the only one in the world who ever sat on a jewel
case and heard it shatter!
Or if I was the only one who ever got a cd out of its case and found one
already in the drive, so I slide the wrong CD in the Wrong jewel case

Or if I was the only one to carry cd's in those nice little travel cases
then later couldn't find the jewel case
Or am I the only one whos daughter has a new Kids in the block CD in my Lrd
Zepplin Jewel case

Am i the only one who ever lost this damn case????
Oh yeah and I bet you never lose your keys either

How is it possible to have the "it's not in the original case" problem?

You buy office and bring it home or have it shipped to you.

It comes in a box and inside the box is a jewel case or a DVD case.

On the product key sticker affixed to the case, it say 'Don't lose this
key!'

(I'm not sure about Office, but for XP it specifically states the disk is
USELESS without the key.)

So you install Office, and put the CD back in the case.

Usually you install Office once, and once in a while for updates or
installing additional components, you have to insert the original CD, or
maybe if your system dies or you have to reinstall the OS because of a
virus.....

So, in all those situations, you take the CD out of the original case, use
it, and put it back.

It's not like you do it 50 times and there's a chance it gets misplaced
after a while.

How is it possible?

Oh, I burned a CD of all my favorite recipes but I have no case for it,
wait, take that office CD out of it's case with the product key, don't
want this CD of my recipes to get ruined...

Anyway, it cost a few hundred dollars, so you have to treat it carefully,
or plan to spend some extra money.

The good this is that Office 2003 is much better than Office 2000....
