How to disable automatic area code
Hi,
I use a Canon multifunction device to fax directly from my computer. The fax driver reads my contacts from Outlook 2003. My problem is that when I add a contact in Outlook and I type the 7 digits fax number, my area code is added automatically before the fax number. When I try to delete it, it comes back automatically. I DO NOT want the area code in the fax number, because it makes my fax machine dial it even though it is not needed (local call). If I try to delete the area code from Control Panel | Modem applet, I have a message saying "You must enter an area code". Does someone know how to edit the area code setting in Control Panel through the registry ? Any other ideas ? Thank you. |

How to disable automatic area code
You can't change how Outlook masks phone numbers. If your Canon program was
designed to integrate with Outlook, its developers should know that and take that into account when they configured their dialer. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Pierrot Robert" mcthepro_at_hotmail.com wrote in message ... How to disable automatic area code
I edited the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Telephony\Locations\Location0\AreaCode value and now I can enter fax numbers without the area code. Thanks. What change did you make to the key? Does the Canon software work now?
