links and bookmarks not working properly for web visitors
I have created and published files to a shared directory, all the bookmarks
and links work for me when I click on the published file. However other users have a different experience, they click on the link and get taken to the wrong location. I have noticed that my screen shows the results to the left of the screen and these users are seeing more centered and larger. I experimented with Display resolution but it did not resolve the problem. Does anyone know what setting controls this and is there any HTML code fragment I could add to the document to force everyone including myself to see the published files the same? Thanks very much. |

Those able to help will want to know the version of Publisher and the

we are using Publisher 2007. I can't share the web address it is on an
intranet. One thing we discovered today is that one of the users can correct the problem by changing their zoom to 125%. We have been comparing screen resolution, font size etc and are still not sure what is causing this. Quite a few people with varying screen reslolutions etc.. are operating fine. It is just some. If there happens to be some code I could insert to control them all that might work. The problem you are having has to do with the way Publisher outputs the html
code under different screen resolutions. Publisher by default outputs its images at 96 dpi, and if your local computer screen is set at 120 dpi then you will have the alignment issues you are experiencing. While 96 dpi has been the traditional default for most monitors, some of the new wide screens, especially on laptops, come from the factory set at 120. Though it is not a great solution, the best workaround is for everyone that is going to view this site to go to their control panel and Display properties (or right click your desktop properties) Settings tab Advanced and change the DPI setting to 96 dpi. If you are the one producing the site, you should republish after you change the settings on your computer and delete the old web files from your server. Thank-you that solves our issue. Great information.
