wrapping text around a picture in Outlook Express
I would like to create emails in which text wraps around a picture. Is this
possible in Outlook Express, and if so how do I do it? Thanks to anyone who can answer this. -- Perry |

You code your message in HTML with an HTML editor. (A 'real man' does it
with Notepad ;-) --- Ted Zieglar "Backup is a computer user's best friend." pchesnut wrote: I would like to create emails in which text wraps around a picture. Is this possible in Outlook Express, and if so how do I do it? Thanks to anyone who can answer this. |

You need to use HTML format for the message.
Then use Insert, Picture to insert the picture where desired in the text. Note on the dialog is an Alignment option that lets you specify where the image does relative to the text. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "pchesnut" wrote in message ... Using OE, you cannot fully wrap text around a picture as you can in Word. The best you can get is one line of text starting at the bottom of the picture. It -could- be done but it would take jumping throught some hoops with a 3rd party app and it doesn't work half the time. I don't know why you're getting such half-answers from these bozos here. Google would give you a better shot at understanding it. |

TY, pop. At least your answer shows you understand the concept of text
wrapping vis a vis text "placement." And your answer also shows you understand as I do the difference between how Word does allow text wrapping, whereas OE appears not to. I'm just amazed (but "sigh" not really) that MS makes their products in a manner that doesn't allow true portability between apps (Word = OE). I guess I'll just have to give up on OE and look for an email client that will let me send emails with text-wrapped images. Hmm--maybe I'll look at Google's g-mail first, since you mention Google. Thank you for your very on-point response. -- Perry "Pop`" wrote: pchesnut wrote: I would like to create emails in which text wraps around a picture. wrapping text around a picture in Outlook Express
Okay, guys, I found the answer to this question. You can, indeed, wrap text
around an inserted picture in OE. Here's how. When you use the Insert-Picture command, you get a dialog box. After selecting the picture you want to insert, you set other variables shown in the same dialog box. down and to the left is a section titled alignment. Clicking on this opens a menu list of options for where you want your text to appear in relation to the inserted image. For example, if you choose "Left," the text wraps to the right of the image. There are lots of other choices. To the right of this section are two more choices: "Border Thickness" and "Spacing." The numbers you enter in the both choices are in pixels, although there is nothing that tells you this. 2 to 3 pixels draws a very nice border around your image. "Spacing" refers to the distance between your image and the text. 10 pixels makes a very good choice. Anyway, the good news is that OE does allow text wrapping around images inserted into email text. -- Perry "pchesnut" wrote: I would like to create emails in which text wraps around a picture.
