Access 2000 SP3 Issues

Hello

We have just upgraded all of our machines to Office SP3.
Since doing this I am now getting a large number of errors
within Access db's.

A couple of the errors are as below...

Code on a combo box no longer allows the chr function, so
I have had to use a new function to retrieve the data.

SQL code on a combo box no longer allows the format
function so I can no longer use the format command to
return just the year part of a date.

Probably a missing or broken reference

When this happens, you need to take steps to let Access repair the broken
reference(s) ON THE COMPUTER WHERE THE FAILURE IS OCCURING.

Here are Doug Steele's instructions for how to do it:

****Quote****
Open any code module (or open the Immediate Window, using Ctrl-G, provided
you haven't selected the "keep debug window on top" option). Select Tools |
References from the menu bar. Examine all of the selected references.

If any of the selected references have "MISSING:" in front of them, unselect
them, and back out of the dialog. If you really need the reference(s) you
just unselected (you can tell by doing a Compile All Modules), go back in
and reselect them.

If none have "MISSING:", select an additional reference at random, back out
of the dialog, then go back in and unselect the reference you just added. If
that doesn't solve the problem, try to unselect as many of the selected
references as you can (Access may not let you unselect them all), back out
of the dialog, then go back in and reselect the references you just
unselected. (NOTE: write down what the references are before you delete
them, because they'll be in a different order when you go back in).

Just so you know: the problem will occur even if the library that contains
the specific function that's failing doesn't have a problem.

So, follow those instructions and see if your problem goes away.

Thanks for the reply John.

However this was the first thing that I checked and there
are no missing references.

The only way that I have been able to get around this is
by creating functions for every thing that I nned to do.
Even the left function will not work in a query, which I
have also had to create as an external function from the
query.

You have a references problem.

'Missing' references are only the most simple and obvious
kind of reference problem.

After you have gone through the steps already listed,
you will have probably identified one of the reference
that is causing the problem.

If not, you will have to take the additional steps to
re-install and re-register the required files, without
knowing which reference is responsible for the problem.
