Exporting in ICAL format - options needed
My Church currently uses Office 2003 products, including Outlook. We need to
export our main Outlook calendar to the ICAL format (a single file) so we can use it in a Joomla calendar component (jEvents). I'm looking for reliable options to do this using a plug-in or a third part application. So far we have purchased a small program which purported do this from Outlook 2000 - 2007 but it has proven very buggy and unreliable. I see that Outlook 2007 saves to ICAL format inherently but I am wondering if it would be problematic for us to upgrade Outlook but not the other Office products to the 2007 version? The last thing I want to do is introduce another problem. Any help, information or pointers would be welcome. |

You would do better to upgrade the entire suite - some features wont work if
the versions don’t match. They may be features you don't use, so it won’t matter. The upgrade price for the standard suite is not too much more than outlook alone. http://www.slipstick.com/OUTLOOK/ol2007/standalone.htm FWIW, someone said the outlook ics is buggy in joomla - I'd try the trial of the office suite first. Actually... you could get the outlook 2010 beta "click 2 run" - it runs in a virtual space and won't affect your currently installed programs. see http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2009/up091217.htm#2 for more info and a link. This will give you several months before you need to make a decision on what to do. You can buy Outlook 2007 separately from the rest of Office 2007 and it
costs a lot less. Put the disk in and tell it to upgrade and it does just that. Alternatively, if you already have Office 2007 and just want Outlook 2007, you can put the disk in and choose custom install and choose to not install everything by default then change the Outlook 2007 installer to actually install and it does that.
