Outlook 2007 Default Area Code
How can you change the default area code in Outlook 2007? (I particularly
want to remove the leading "1" country code that appears by default.) It was set incorrectly by the prior user of my computer. Thanks. |

Thanks, I couldn't find that anywhere and tried the "Help" function in Outlook.
More specificially it is: Actions Call Contact New Call Dialing Properties Select "My Location" then "Edit". Yeah, I know. I only need to get folks to the place where they can find the
rest of the way themselves. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "christopher t" christopher wrote in message ... Thanks, I couldn't find that anywhere and tried the "Help" function in Outlook. I am having the same problem. When I make changes to the country code the
changes don't reflect in outlook. When I turn off the outlook dialing properties option to not use the country code I also don't see any difference. The 1+ shows up no matter what I try. Is there a setting on the Exchange server perhaps? |

That setting only applies to new Contacts you create, not existing ones.

I have tried creating a new contact, but the problem persists. I have had
others in my office try to figure this out on their desktops also, but none of us have had any luck. We cannot use our fax software if the +1 is in there as we need to dial a 9 first. It is easy enough to remove the 1 when you are sending only one fax, but that is not an option when sending to a distribution group with a 100 phone numbers. Can't reproduce the behavior. There must be something else going on like an
add-in or other telephony program. There is no reason the country code should have any effect on how the fax dials if you set up your dialing rules correctly. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Linda" wrote in message ... Outlook 2007 Default Area Code
Greetings, I had the same problem and solved by doing the following:
1) Go to Control Panel in Windows...use the Start Menu 2) Go to Phone and Modem Options 3) Under the Dialing Rules tab, chose to "Edit" your location 4) In the "Edit Location" window, enter your area code and whatever other information is applicable. You should be good from here. I hope this has been helpful. Have a good one. Best, SeanXavier "rgille" wrote: How can you change the default area code in Outlook 2007?
