Default OE "stuck" trying to receive new mail

I've recently had a recurring problem with receiving
new messages from some suspicious sites. OE tells me it is
trying to receive new mail and seems to get "stuck" in the
process. I've waiting for long periods of time, but it
never arrives and it prevents other messages from being
received.
I have an alternate way to look at new mail that
does not involve OE and can see the message trying to
unload. They are from sites I don't recognize and see to
have suspicious subjects. ALL of them are 41k in size. I
can delete them from the other e-mail system and then OE
will handle my normal mail that is behind the "stuck"
message. How can I get OE "unstuck" from trying to handle
these suspicious messages so I can delete them without
leaving OE?

Is your anti-virus set up to scan incoming mail? If it is and it does =
not prompt user action then this could cause a delay each time it =
encounters a 41 kb virus bearing message. You could test by changing the =
setting so that it requires a user response.

An alternative is to disable scanning of incoming and outgoing mail. =
Then create a message rule to apply "Where the message size is more than =
size" and set it at something under 41 kb so that it moves such messages =
to a folder you create for that purpose. Don't forget to include "Stop =
processing more Rules". You can then check the folder at intervals and =
Shift Delete those messages you do not want.

Hope this helps.
