The Primary Editing Language in Office 2007 is English United Kingdom and
English United States is also in the Enabled Editing Languages list.

Can anyone give any suggestions?

You no longer have spell checking capabilities in some
languages in Outlook Express 6.0 after you install the 2007
Microsoft Office system
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932974

Here are a couple of free spell checkers that you may find
helpful.

Spell Checker for OE
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/spelloe.html

Spell Checker for OE 2.1
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952

You may be able to get around this issue with a copy of
Office 2003. You can install the Proofing tools from the Office
2003 installation CD and it will restore the spell checking
capabilities in Outlook Express.

Thanks Bruce - your suggestion of installing Office 2003 English Proofing
tool did the trick!

Cheers

I don't know where the Office 2003 proofing tools are. I was only citing
a
blog that has worked for others.

Outlook Express has never come with a spell check of its own and has
always
relied on a third party program.

Since OE is on its last legs, no issue that was never addressed before
will
certainly not be addressed now.

As I said, I have always used a free spell check, and I know a few people
that like TinySpell so much, they use that even though they have the
option
to use the spell check from Word.

Been following this thread since I am having the same problem and just
want
to make sure I understand. I bought Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft
Office
2003, and Office 2007, and the recommendation to this is to either try
and
find the dictionary from Office 2003, which on my system is not where
Bruce
said it was or download the a third party spell checker????? You have
to
be
kidding me. Where is the support team this is obvious and needs to be
fixed.

Seems I may be wasting my money on MS products.....

Leon,
I don't have earlier versions of MS Office to install old English Proofing
Tools.

What do you suggest to fix French Only Outlook Express with my new XP &
Office 2007?

TinySpell:

I haven't used TinySpell, only Vampirefo. But, in a new message window, is
the Spelling button available, or still grayed out?

You have to start it. You can put a shortcut to it in your Startup folder
and it will be there ready for you in any program. Then turn off OE's
spelling check.

Dear Frank and Bruce,
Thank you both so much for trying to help me. I have been working on all
your advice ALL afternoon, and I came up with a great solution.......
I have ditched 2007 and just reloaded 2003. To be honest I was always
disappointed with 2007 it certainly was not as friendly as 2003.
Anyway I really appreciate your time
Thanks again
Lee

Thanks Bruce the workaround worked for me. Using XP & upgraded to Office
2007, tried your solution and now I can read my spell checker!
