Well, bad news it still only puts what is in the current idenity.
I know I am a pain in the neck but, If you view the store
dirctory and it has the file that points to the
current idenity then isn't that all that is going to be imported?

Just one more question, I hope. When I right click on the files they
don't
have
Read only but they do say Archive. Should I unclick it also?

Do I have to copy the C:/Mail to the
c:\\Application Data\Identities\
or will it copy it over when I do the import?

No, you import the messages from the C:\Mail folder to OE.

Let's review.

1. You copied the DBX files to the C:\Mail folder.
2. You highlighted the files, right click, select Properties then make
sure
the Read Only check box is not checked.
3. From Outlook Express.
a. File menu
b. Select Import
c. Select Message
d. Select Microsoft Outlook Express
e. Press NEXT
f. Select "Import mail from an OE6 store directory"
g. Press OK
h. Press BROWSE
i. Navigate to the C:\Mail folder.
j. Click on it to highlight it.
k. Press OK
l. Press NEXT
m. Select All folder.
n. Press NEXT

Now Finish up the import and all messages will be imported into OE. Once
done, you can delete the C:\Mail folder.

Thats what the import is supposed to do. Import the messages from the
C:\Mail folder into the current Identity. If you want them in a different
Identity, you'll have to switch to an existing one or create a new one and
import it into there.

I don't necessarly want it to be in a seperate ident. When I add the folders
to match I don't have to name them with the extension showing do I? Like
ex.1 Old mail ex.2 Old mail.dbx

When you import the old messages, any folders that were in it will be
created automatically in the one it is being imported.

I only asked because I had been instructed earlier to setup all the folders
that I had for my old files.

I am having problems with my dmx files. I have just changed
from dialup to Dsl and I wanted to keep all of my emails from my
IMAP carrier and copied all the dmx files to a CD. Now I went
to setup my new accounts and OE asked to delete that other user
and I said yes, well I thought I did the right thing but now I can't
for the life of me how to get those dmx files back into the new
accounts. I should have done it like a import but it's too late for that.
What application can I use to read these dmx files? Is there any hope
of saving them? Any help with be greatly appreciated.

Only if you didn't have the Folder.dbx file which we found out you did.

are all the old files also. So I dont' know why they are not showing. So

Review time again.

You copied the DBX files to CD. You did include the Folder.dbx file? It is
on the CD, Yes? No?

1) If you did copy the Folder.dbx file:
You created a folder in Explorer and named it C:\Mail (not OE, Windows
Explorer is where this is created)
You copied the DBX files from the CD to the C:\Mail folder.
The Read Only check boix was unchecked.
You then did the import as described earlier (and shown again below)
None of the old messages appeared?

2) If you did NOT copy the Folder.dbx file:
You created a folder in Explorer and named it C:\Mail
You copied the DBX files from the CD to the C:\Mail folder.
The Read Only check boix was unchecked.
Now, look at the DBX files. You should see the standard files such as
Inbox.dbx, Outbox.dbx, Drafts.dbx, Sent Items.dbx and Deleted Items.dbx. IF
you created some mail folders in OE such as Old Mail or Stuff (these are
just examples), you would also see a Stuff.dbx and Old Mail.dbx. You would
have to open Outlook Express and create these mail folders. Once you have
created these mail folders, open them in OE by clicking on them. Now, you
need to copy the Folder.dbx file that now contains the folder names to the
C:\Mail folder in Explorer. To get the location of this Folder.dbx file, you
go into OE's Tools | Options | Maintenance tab | Store Folders button and
just note the location of the files. Now, open Windows Explorer and navigate
to that folder. Copy the Folder.dbx file to the C:\Mail folder. Now you're
ready to import as shown below:

Importing the old mail into OE.

3. From Outlook Express.
a. File menu
b. Select Import
c. Select Message
d. Select Microsoft Outlook Express
e. Press NEXT
f. Select "Import mail from an OE6 store directory"
g. Press OK
h. Press BROWSE
i. Navigate to the C:\Mail folder.
j. Click on it to highlight it.
k. Press OK
l. Press NEXT
m. Select All folder.
n. Press NEXT

Now Finish up the import and all messages will be imported into OE. Once
done, you can delete the C:\Mail folder.

Choose the option to import from a store directory, not an Identity. Then
browse to the directory that holds the dbx files.
