Unless you saved folders.dbx with the other dbx files, then import will not
work. Why didn't you go to Tools, Accounts, Mail tab, Properties and change the information from your dialup to DSL? I doubt if the old dbx files are deleted from the hard drive. Do a Search for dbx files on your hard drive. Include hidden files. Are your old dbx files listed? Write down the location and follow the instructions to import and point to the old dbx files on the hard drive. -- Ron Sommer "helpless" wrote in message ... Ok, I did that. It went through loading a pot full. But now I don't see the folders or files. Is there something else I need to do? "helpless" wrote: Ok, i'm to the part where I OE file import. It brings up a box with 9 or 10 email programs to import from. My folder is not showing. "DGuess" wrote: Do the following: create a temp folder such as C:\Mail Now copy all the DBX files from the CD to the C:\Mail folder Open the C:\Mail folder. Press CTRL A then right click on the highlighted files and select Properties. Now, uncheck the Read Only check box if it is checked. Press OK Now, from OE click on File | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express | Import mail from an OE6 store folder. Press BROWSE button then navigate to the C:\Mail folder Select it then press OK Now finish up the import of the old email messages. You had me wondering if you had saved DMX files instead of DBX files so thats why I added the Search for DBX file. Now that we know that isn't needed, just do the steps above. |

steve "helpless" wrote in message ... I am having problems with my dmx files. I have just changed from dialup to Dsl and I wanted to keep all of my emails from my IMAP carrier and copied all the dmx files to a CD. Now I went to setup my new accounts and OE asked to delete that other user and I said yes, well I thought I did the right thing but now I can't for the life of me how to get those dmx files back into the new accounts. I should have done it like a import but it's too late for that. What application can I use to read these dmx files? Is there any hope of saving them? Any help with be greatly appreciated. |

... Ok, I did that. It went through loading a pot full. But now I don't see the folders or files. Is there something else I need to do? As Ron has mention, you did save the Folders.dbx file? You can create one by copying it to the C:\Mail folder. Did you create any mail folders in OE such as Stuff, Old Mail or anything you might have named it? If you did, create those folders in OE again. Once you have that done, go to the Store Folder location in Tools | Options | Maintenance tab | Store Folder and copy the Folders.dbx file to the C:\Mail folder. Just copy it, don't try movng it. Now go thru the Import File menu Select Import Select Messages Select Micrsoft Outlook Express 6 Press Next Select Import mail from an OE6 store directory Press OK Now press Browse and navigate to the C:\Mail folder where the old DBX files are located. Select it then press OK Now finish up the import. |

Me again, Sorry...I have a question. I am so afraid of messing all this up.
I need to go to the Now, from OE the new store folder is properties different than my old files. Is it ok to change the location in the mantaniace screen just checking because it ask me the following. "There apprears to be an Outlook Express message store folder that you have chosen. Do you want to switch to using that store? If not, it will be deleted and replaced with your current store." What do I choose? Thanks "DGuess" wrote: "helpless" wrote in message ... Ok, I did that. The only reason you would be looking at the current store folder location is to find out where it is so don't try to change the location. |

Just one more question, I hope. When I right click on the files they don't
have Read only but they do say Archive. Should I unclick it also? "DGuess" wrote: "helpless" wrote in message ...
