Default extra spacing between character problem

I'm using word 2000 to create some forms for my agency. I use the legal
pleading feature, as many of our forms are used in the courtroom setting.
Since they are pleaded forms, they must also be justified. This is where I
run into problems. Having extra spacing between words to accomodate full
justification is not so bothersome and can be overlooked. However, some of
our output has extra spacing between characters of words. This poses some
problems when it comes to reading said documents. Does anyone know of a
setting or something that I can change or do to avoid word from inserting
extra spacing between characters of words?

Hi Ernie/1nOnly,

Perhaps somebody changed some paragraphs to "distributed" (keyboard
shortcut Ctrl+Shift+J) instead of "justified" (Ctrl+J)?

You can check the current alignment with Shift+F1 (then, click into the
text or on the ¶ mark with the "question cursor").
If it's "distributed", Ctrl+J should fix it.

Regards,
Klaus

Hi,
If you want to keep spaced out words (letters with spaces between them)
together when using full justification, you need to replace the spaces
between the letters with a hard space (Shift + Control + space ).

This is not the issue here, though, I think. This is a problem with certain
printer drivers, which capriciously add spaces in the middle of words in
justified text.
