Default Customize accounting format

I've been banging my head on my desk for two days over this problem!
I want to customize the accounting format to show 0 as: $ 0.00
(with a $ to the far left of the cell and 0.00 to the far right. What
symbol/space/other thing do I use to create this extra space?
-- AAAaaarrrgggaaah! It's only 5 days until April 15th!!!!

I've always wanted to be somebody....
Now I see I should have been more specific.

Default Customize accounting format

Try a custom format of:
$* 0.00

DollarSign, Asterisk, spacecharacter, 0.00
