Default Freeze Column

Other than the first column, is there a way to freeze other columns in my
excel spread sheet?

Your question is not clear to me. Are you asking if you can freeze more than
one column starting with column 1; for example columns 1 through 4? Or are
you asking if you can freeze multiple columns starting with a column number
other than 1; for example columns 4 through 7? Let's answer the last
question first... the answer is no (think about it... what would the screen
look like around the frozen columns as the columns were scrolled... columns
after the frozen columns would be shown to the left of the frozen ones?). As
for the first question, select the first cell you want to still be able to
scroll (both horizontally and vertically) and click Window/Freeze Panes from
the menu bar. The columns to the left and above that cell will be frozen.

No

Freeze Panes works only at top and/or left side of sheet.

Default Freeze Column

Thank you for the help. I would like to freeze themone column at a time. I
know how to freeze the first column, but I'd like to know how to freeze
others columns one column at a time.

Maybe this idea will satisfy what you are trying to do. Look at the
horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of your worksheet. To the very right of
the scroll bar is a small (taller than wide) "button" looking thing. Click
and drag it to the left until a vertical bar appears from top to bottom on
your worksheet. You can release the mouse button as soon as you see the
vertical bar. This splits the worksheet into two sections. You can click
drag the vertical bar wherever you want... drag it to the left so that only
one column shows to the left of it. At the bottom of this single column is a
horizontal scroll bar just for that split off pane... scroll it to the
column you want. Now, click in the "main" part of the worksheet to the right
of the vertical bar and work in it as you normally would. When you scroll
the "main" part of the worksheet, the single column section to the left of
the vertical bar won't move. Does that do what you want?

Default Freeze Column

In Microsoft 2007,

I usually do this. In the 'View' tab, select "Split." A bar will appear in
the middle which can be moved left or right.

This will create a duplicate of your spreadsheet. BUT WAIT! It's not a
regular copy. If you make an edit on one side, the edit automatically edits
the other side. So you don't have to worry about more than one document.

Now you can drag the split where you want. This will allow the right side
to be scrollable while the left side of the split stays visible.

Say you want to hide a column, select it, and right click hide.

Hope that helps!

To the OP

You can use Freeze Panes wherever you like on a sheet.
Place the cursor in the cell below the first row you wish to freeze, and
to the right of the first column you want to freeze, before selecting
Freeze panes.
