Default Query on a linked spreadsheet

In Access, I have linked an Excel spreadsheet, and then
have queries running off that linked spreasheet. The
queries are functioning correctly, but when I have a
query running, I can no longer open the spreadsheet. If
the spreadsheet is already open, I can't save any of my
changes until I close the query. The spreadsheet is
shared, allowing changes by multiple users.

Is there any way to run a query and still be able to
open/save changes to the spreadsheet that is linked?
