Default IE6+XP: Spell Check Halted?

I had a similar problem a while back with XP. If memory
serves, it turns out that a file was not "correct" and I
got it from a Knowledge Base search about the problem.
Note, this is with Office '97 and Win XP Pro, and I can't
remember if "halted" was the error, but I think it was.

IE6+XP: Spell Check Halted?

Problem: I want to use the spell checker in

IE6/OEemail. I have it
configured (ToolsOptionsAlways check...), but it always

errors out:

When I run the Spell Check from the toolbar, I get a Red

X error
dialog saying "An error occured while the spelling was

being
checked."

When I click Send I get a yellow exclamation error

saying "The spell
check on this document was halted. Do you want to sebd

anyway?"

I have a new installation of IE6 (OE=v6.00.2600.0000) and

XP (v2002),
with all service packs installed by auto update. I'm OK

with any
solution involving replacing DLLs or editing registry.

Is this a
known problem, is there a known fix? I need spell

checking. MS might
also consider building a typing tutor into Windows, but

that would be
more appropriate for a wish list, eh?

TIA

Are you asking? Or repling to a 17 day old post?

And: An error occurred while the spelling was being checked or: Spell
Check was halted:
