why are my charts covered completly until i click on them ?

I'm not sure what you're asking here. What are your charts covered by?

Default xl charts

Hi,

Assuming you think they are covered by gray rectangle then you have the
View objects as Placeholder enabled.

In xl2003 use menu Tools Options View Objects Show All
