How to remove NG DBX files?
When I subscribe to a NG, then click on it to display recent messages, I get
a corresponding DBX file in the message folder. When I subsequently unsubscribe that NG, the DBX file typically goes away. That is the behavior I expect. But in some instances, after unsubscribing, I am left with DBX files of non-zero size. For example, m.p.e.worksheet.functions(1), m.p.e.worksheet.functions(2), m.p.e.worksheet.functions and m.p.excel, where "m.p.e" is microsoft.public.excel. They persist even after I remove all NG accounts (leaving one mail account). Why are those file left behind, whereas others are not? Can I simply remove those files manually (i.e. right-click the icon and delete)? Presumably I should exit OE if/when I do that. Is there a cleaner way to remove those orphaned(?) DBX files, like Tools Options Maintenance Clean Up Now? I tried Reset, to no avail. |

How to remove NG DBX files?
1. Write down the location of your identity's store
(http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain). 2. Close OE. 3. In Windows Explorer, navigate to your store folder and manually delete the leftover/remainder DBX file. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 JoeU2004 wrote: When I subscribe to a NG, then click on it to display recent messages, I get a corresponding DBX file in the message folder. How to remove NG DBX files?
FYI. /Usually/ if you subscribe to a newsgroup and then unsubscribe, the dbx
file will disappear. However, if you find a group and Go To, rather than subscribing, the Go To group will leave behind a dbx file. If you Go To again, you may get a Thatgroup(1).dbx file. Anything there sound familiar? -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "JoeU2004" wrote in message ... "PA Bear [MS MVP]" wrote: 3.
