Default Strange message during spell check

As yet, no real solution to my little problem and nothing on the Microsoft
website that addresses it. So I'll have another go:

Word 2000 with Sr1 and SP3, XP (but also the same thing happened on 98SE):

When spell checking *some* documents only, an error message appears 'Word
cannot find the spelling file MSSSpell32.dll for .' (dot) and there is a
similar message about grammar following. The documents I am editing are
probably written under Word 2003. I do not have any odd add-ins on my
machine. Is this particular dll file used in 2003 and in that case are
documents marked in some way to that effect and as to invoke an automatic
reference to the file(s)? Or is there some other explanation? Suzanne, don't
tell me you are speechless on this one!

G'Day Aalaan,

Just a possibility...

Can't remember Word 2000, but ...

Select All and Set the Language to whatever (English U.S.?)...
