You will need to demonstrate over a period of time that you have
genuinely turned over a new leaf if you want to regain our trust.

Hello,

I would like to apoligize. I have switched names several times, for
the purpose of keeping anomous. I seemed to think that this
newsgroup was a bit of a joke. Please forgive me. I will no longer
post.

Bear

Does it help in cases like this to give away "trade" secrets. Enough
users here know how to detect imposters once they are alerted to one
appearing.

Why not? If they know we can tell by the message headers, maybe they'll go
away. What Robear posted is fine with me as anyone in doubt can tell if a
post is really from me or not.

How come? You're not normally lost for words G.

We need to take care not to reveal how we know which is the impostor and
which is not!

That was the real me, Norman. I was going to reply and then thought
better of it, but managed to send anyway in error.

Is there any way with OE, to use this info to delete the imposter's posts?

With the imposter's post selected (highlighted) in upper pane, simply click
on Message | Block Sender. Doing so will Remove all posts from the
imposter's email address but NOT the IP.

Bruce

If you respond to the post by "person234" it could bring an end to the
episode.

I heard you. I understand keeping your e-mail address anonymous, but not
your name. Contribute useful comments to the newsgroup instead of spamming
and I will accept your apology.

I thought of that (and Create rule from message); but the email address I
was seeing wasn't a valid email address. When I created a message rule for
that poster, it blocked virtually every post from everyone.
[Frankly, I would consider excluding the IP, if necessary ... and possible.]

MSOE can only filter in a limited way. No other fields than email address,
and subject line.
