Default Can't Repair or Uninstall Office 2007

I tried to install an update to Outlook 2007 and it failed because it
couldn't detect the installation. It said the installation database may be
corrupted. I tried using "change" in add/remove programs and nothing
happens. If I put the install CD into the drive, I get a message that says
setup did not complete successfully. If I try and remove from add/remove
programs, the removal fails. any suggestions OTHER than a manual uninstall?
If manual uninstall is the only option, could someone please supply a link
with complete and detailed instructions?
thanks!

Thank you Susan for the reply; howevr it is getting worse. When I insert the
Office CD to reinstall, I get a message saying setup did not complete
successfully. Now Office is gone and I can't reinstall it. OUCH. Any

You could try running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove
installer references to Office, then re-install. Otherwise, you may need to
contact Microsoft's Product Support...

Default Can't Repair or Uninstall Office 2007 - SOLVED

HURRAH! I seem to have solved this for myself!

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate, Office Home & Student 2007 and Office
Outlook 2007.

I discovered that the installation files for Office Outlook 2007 were
corrupted.

I went to:-

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us

and downloaded the "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" and ran it on
Microsoft Outlook.

I then did the following.

1. ReInstalled Microsoft Outlook 2007 over the top of the current installation

2. Restarted the computer

3. Carried out a repair on Outlook

4. Restarted the computer

5. Installed Office 2007 SP1 Successfully!

I hope that this helps everyone

Regards

Richard

Richard - how did you know that your Outlook install files were
corrupted?

I have a similar problem with Excel an I don't really want to go the
manual route of editing all the Registry entries
