Default Formatting problems with multiple versions of Word

Hello,

I'm having problems with a Word document that is being editted by
several people using different versions of Word. The formatting,
particularly the fonts, don't remain consistent when opened by
different computers. What are the possible solutions? Would the use of
TrueType fonts solve the problem? Would text inside a table not suffer
the same fate?

Also, I read about checking the "disable features used after Word 97"
feature. Would this help? Finally, would using a consistent .dot
across all machines help? Could this .dot template apply ONLY to this
particular document, or would all users have to change their
normal.dot and therefore all documents created on Word?

Thank you,
MF

Hi MF

The following may help:

What happens when I send my document to someone else? Will Word mess up my
formatting?
http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/shar...matChange.html

What is the relationship between a Word document and its template?
http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/atta...ate/index.html

Apart from issues covered by those pages, is it possible that the document
uses unusual fonts that are not available on every computer? Does this
problem occur if you have a document in plain old Times New Roman and Arial?

Hope this helps.
