Publisher 2003 files save as Word
I recently installed Office 2003 (and sp 3) on a new laptop with Windows 7
x64. My Publisher docs are all saving as Word files. When I open them I get a window full of gobbledygook that asks me to choose the encoding that makes them readable. I have no idea what to choose, but there seems to be no difference when I change it. This occurs on my old files as well as new ones I try to create. I have tried un- and reinstalling Office '03 and have also removed any hint of '07 that came installed on the machine. It's got to be something simple I have overlooked....any ideas? |

Your associations probably have been corrupted.
Right-click any Publisher file, Properties, Opens with...change. Associate the file with Publisher 2003. -- Mary Sauer MVP http://msauer.mvps.org/ "Yobro" wrote in message ... Publisher 2003 files save as Word
Hi, Mary, Thx for your quick response. I tried this and Publisher doesn't
show up on the list or under Other Programs (nor do any other Office programs). Nothing under Browse that I can see. "Mary Sauer" wrote: Your associations probably have been corrupted. Publisher 2003 files save as Word
I think we're getting down to the prob. Office is not listed under Program
Files, and under Program Files x86 I see Publisher behind Clipart, but these are just backgrounds. It just doesn't seem to be there. Not even Word. Should I try reinstalling Office again? Did you look in the Microsoft Office folder? Do you have your disks and product
number? If you do download the CleanUp utility. Try using it. The description and download link is he Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 Have you tried Detect and Repair? There is a check off to repair the icons. Do this first. -- Mary Sauer http://msauer.mvps.org/ "Yobro" wrote in message ... I think we're getting down to the prob.
