Default Office 2007 activation issue

I have the same problem.

"Chris Coates" wrote:

I had to reload my laptop and installed Office 2007 Beta 2.
When trying to activate I keep getting a "The Activation Wizard is unable to
find a connection to the internet." error. I am using a direct internet
connection, no proxy, no firewall (even tried to activate over dial up).
The strange thing is I also installed Viso 2007 Beta 2 and it has no problem
activating!
This has been going on for 2 days.
Any suggestions?

So sorry about the blank post. I got so excited to see that someone had
actually managed to activate that I didn't see that this was where my query
was to go.

Did you do anything in particular to get activation, Graham? Perpetual
clicking? Incantations?

Thanks,
Kelly
Still desperate to activate, as my remaining number of attempts fritter
away....

I've been trying for about 3 days to activate it. Microsoft did a great job
already. What else are we looking at down the road?

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/925098 should help you fix
your problem.

Like my psychiatrist used to say: "you have to learn to live with is."
Ask the helpdesk and you never get the proper answer.
I gave up trying to reinstall office 2007 beta.

It's fun to be a betatester. it's pretty valuable for Microsoft. But do'nt
ask for help. That seems to be too much trouble for our friends.

???? live with "is"???? Are you really a beta tester??? I think perhaps
you are a trial beta user, and support was never offered, purely an "as
is" offering.

OK everybody, success! Special thanks to Patrick Schmid for referring us to
ms knowledgebase article 925098 posted 10/3/06. I used method 2 to delete the
DigitalProductID and ProductID keys from the registry, then opened Excel
2007, was prompted for a registration key, entered the key in method 1 of the
article and IT WORKED!. I next tried to activate and it reported "already
registered" Thanks Patrick. (ps. Careful with the registry. Create a restore
point before doing this)
