Office Professional Plus 2007 installation failure
Insults... Nice... I bet "Wild Bill" Gates wouldn't appreciate your
representing him or M$ in this way... Thanks for the added push away from the stable. So, all 10,000 of you couldn't help push a better, more solid product out to the public? You can call this what you will, but when you push to the general public, you are attempting to build market interest and keep the propaganda flowing so your sales will pay the bills. If the 10,000 of you were not able to catch install problems, let alone functionality, this product won't go for another year! Or, if it does, it will be as buggy as every other "FOR SALE" initial version of M$ apps. Nice work and nice follow up, seems the clue-stick needs to be sent in your direction a bit. Next time read before you flame... I didn't use it on anything but a test box, I suggested people give up and wait for a later version. As a developer I would not want to **** of my Beta USERS with crap that would prevent them from someday buying. I, as anyone who might really make a living from programming, would want the Beta USERS experience to be as positive as possible. You never know who might have some control over an International company with more than 40,000 desktops. Beta is not a 'get out of jail free' card when it comes to a customer's experience. Oh and Milly, have a nice day! Office Professional Plus 2007 installation failure
I don't represent anyone but myself. And I guess answering your post using
the same tone constitutes insults - guess if you can't take it, don't dish it out. And exactly what do you expect the technical beta testers to do with install issues (none of which I have experienced)? Storm Microsoft and hold a gun to their head until they solve each and every install problem no matter how arcane the hardware/software combination? It is BETA 2, not an RC and no where near ready for public use except for those (like you) who want to run beta code. Microsoft did not PUSH this out to the public - last time I checked, YOU have to go to the page, YOU have to click on links, YOU have to download, YOU have to expand the installation package, YOU have to input the installation code... need I go on? Take some responsibility and quit blaming everyone except that face in the mirror when something doesn't go as planned. No, you needn't go on, but I'm sure you will.
I dished it out???? When was that, when I suggested we "feel" for the poor saps that had too much faith? Or perhaps when I suggested to others that might have read the thread to stop looking until a new version ships??? I hardly think that equates to "beating with a clue stick" and condescending commentary from a shut-in. Frankly, I think many of us "expected" some sort of guidance (sans the commentary on how we shouldn't be using the product.) from those who have suggested they were familier with the product and might have run into the situation. Look around, you'll see a great deal of threads on the issue. Not many people would expect a final product, but we don't expect to be hammered for asking questions. Stop feeling you need to defend and start adding value.. Better yet, just pi$$ off! "Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: I don't represent anyone but myself. Office Professional Plus 2007 installation failure
This is for Millie and Joanne, the self-proclaiming MVPs. Like hundreds or thousands (try looking up the error message and see how many people are running into this problem) of others, I came here looking for possible fixes, known issues, or potentially useful suggestions. Instead we get you geniuses looking down your noses at everyone about a problem you're not qualified to address (but that doesn't keep you from acting like you're somehow indignant with all us little-people and our petty complaints--you probably don't search forums when you run into problems). We don't need some half-wit(s) who haven't run into this issue to explain that it's not supported by Microsoft (notice we're at a NON-MS forum?). If you don't have an answer why not save your insight (or lack thereof) for some other issue? Your arrogance comes across as purely as your ignorance, you obviously don't know how to help these people. I suppose if you have a problem with software you probably just decompile it and locate the bug yourself, right? or, considering your obvious importance, your contacts at MS probably just send you the source code to figure it out for them. and oh gee, let's make sure we don't send millie any email to her personal account, she might delete it without reading it, then what will we all do? and joanne, that isn't a bad idea you had... however no one cares if you read it, we only care that for no reason you want to comment on it. Must be the "well I didn't have a problem installing it--therefore all these people must be idiots" attitude you probably have trouble with in the workplace. If you installed it with no problem, then why comment on it except some pathetic attempt at making yourself feel superior? Invest some time in self-evaluation and make the world a better place. ---------------------- Now for everyone else except those two "MVP"s... I've installed this on two machines with no problems, put another hard drive into one of the machines with a fresh install of XP pro, used the same downloaded software that worked before, and got the error everyone else who would come here looking for possible answers is getting. I've checked about 20 forums with people running into the same thing, and no answers yet. I only registered here to post my disgust with those two arrogant rejects. Hopefully someone aside from people who've never seen this error before will make their way around with some insight that would be useful. -- r3piphany ------------------------------------------------------------------------ r3piphany's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=16600 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=547852 www.techarena.in |

here's the address I'm at, copied from my browser address: http://forums.techarena.in/ I don't see anything about this place being owned by or otherwise affiliated with MS. You've proved my point: you can't help but find a way to be condescending. It isn't supported by MS, and this isn't MS (and you aren't either, or are you saying you're a representative of MS?). Here's what MS site says if I do a search for the web site I registered to reply to your posts at (which is techarena): "Use these non-Microsoft communities online to get answers to your questions, state your opinions, meet other Windows XP enthusiasts, and learn more about Windows XP." Did you notice the "non-Microsoft" phrase there? Still going to try to twist yourself into being right by suggesting/implying this is affiliated with MS? Office Professional Plus 2007 installation failure
One option to try, by default on Vista even if you are admin, you are
doing things in a non admin mode, so when you run the install it fails on the extraction of files, to get office to install, right click on the X11-85679-EN file, properties, compatibility tab, at bottom select run as admin. this did the trick for me, hope it works for you..... W marvin Villatoro wrote: I've downloaded the 440 MB of Office Pro, I am prompted to run the installation but doing so i am asked if i wish to proceed with the installation and I click ok, and i get an error saying that the installation of this package failed. Can someone help me? |
