how to I make changes to a doc or fill in the blanks after its s.
I receive my doc from the scanner into word, but am unable to type into the
doc, or fill in the blanks. I am not trying to resize or eliminate any of the material, just fill in the document blanks to answer the necessary questions before putting it to print! |

What you're getting from the scanner is just a picture of the original. You need optical character recognition (OCR) software to turn it into editable text. Unfortunately most OCR programs are incompetent with forms, and those that aren't (e.g. Scansoft OmniForm) are too expensive for something you only need once. The alternative is to put the picture of the form "behind text" (this is a choice on the Text Wrapping button on the Picture toolbar), and then insert frames or textboxes on top of the form's blanks to hold your answers. -- Regards, Jay Freedman http://aspnet2.com/mvp.ashx?JayFreedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org |

A scanned document is no longer an editable document. You
now have a "picture" of the document on your word screen. Why can you bring it into word? Because word will let you imbed other objects besides text, and while your document looks like text, it is really a snapshot of text. There are software that "reads" scanned documents. Don't know much about them. You gotta fill it out yourself. Then you can scan it and save it a record. Good luck -----Original Message----- I receive my doc from the scanner into word, but am unable to type into the doc, or fill in the blanks.
