Default Word 2003 -- Strange behavior!

Greetings!
I'm not sure if the problem that I'm having is with Word 2003 or with
me. So, I'd appreciate your advice and suggestions. I have a CV set up
using tables. within some of the cells of the tables I use bulletted
lists. Some, though not all, of the words within some of the bulletted
entries need to be bold face. When I change some of the bolding the
result is that the whole document turns to bold. I've used Styles to
insert the bullets, rather than manually inserting them. I don't
understand this behavior nor how to correct it. Suggestions would be
appreciated!
Thanks!
Dave

Uncheck the automatic update checkbox in the format style dialog.
