Default PP2003 Hyperlinks do not open webpages

Hi Steve - I haven't had too much time to work on this problem over the past
couple of weeks, but I determined a few things regarding this problem:

- The PPTs either imported or created on this computer can open hyperlinks
(just to plain old web sites) on other systems around the college, so it is a
problem centralized to this laptop

- Re-installing MSOffice 2003 did not fix the problem

- I'm suspecting it has something to do with the Internet security settings
on this laptop, as the laptop also has issues with Windows Media Player and
downloading attachments from Hotmail accounts.

I think the best step might be to just re-image the laptop and start from
scratch, reinstalling XP, unless there is some sort of simple security fix or
repair to try.

Thanks for your help,

Dan

Okay, I figured as much. How do you suggest I post the presentation?

Hang on, let me back up. I think I'm wandering around in left field again ;-)

The problem occurs when you play back a PPT (in PPT itself) from the local computer rather than
from a copy on the web someplace; the only thing on the web is the files your hyperlinks point
to. Is that correct?

If so, my apologies. Please DO email me a copy of your test file

Do the obvious thing to that and voila, it becomes a working email address through the magic of
modern computing. :-)

Steve - I sent you the sample PowerPoint file via email. Thanks for your help.

The email address I use here is bogus ( spam deflection mechanism ).
Besides, my having a local copy of the presentation won't tell us much ... we'd need to see
it posted to the same host as you're having problems with.

The system we're currently using is for college instructors. The links don't
work on their presentations, as well as the ones I created locally on the
system. Unfortunately I cannot post an instructor's file, but I could create
a sample presentation if that would be helpful. When working on the problem,
I created a one slide presentation of just a few links and experienced the
same trouble.

Please do create and post one where we can see it.
If nothing else, that'll make it possible to learn whether the problem is in some way
localized (your particular security settings/browser/whatever) or more universal.

I tried wiping out the cache and temp files, but I am still experiencing the
same problem.

Do you have an example file you could post somewhere so we can get a look at it?

Hi, I'm using Power Point 2003 on an HP laptop. I've been experiencing a
number of problems with Internet hyperlinks not opening in IE. At first the
links would not open at all, but after changing the HTM file association back
to Internet Explorer I have encountered a new problem. The links try to load
the webpages from the Temporary Internet Files directory.

What happens if you clear the browser's cache?

Does it solve the problem completely or at least get you one new download of the
needed URL?
