Default logo graphics in Word book

I am preparing a Word 2000 created book for output to postscript and thence to
digital printing.

My designer has offered to produce a logo for the publisher. The question I have
is what is the best format to use (gif, tiff etc) for this logo?

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank in advance.

I'd go for TIFF or EPS, depending on whether the logo is composed mostly
of bitmap- or vector-graphics, respectively.
