Default TOC w/ title page

This is very difficult to find an answer for and I would think it is a very
common question...

In word 2008 how do you make a TOC that omits the title page, lists the TOC
as roman numerals and the first page of actual content as page #1. I have
done it before and can't remember how I did it.

Default TOC w/ title page

You will need a Section Breaks between the Title Page and the Table of
Contents and between Table of Contents and the first page of the actual
contents. In each of the Sections that contain the Table of Contents and
the actual contents, format the page numbers to start at 1 (rather than
continue from the previous Section, and unlink the headers and footers in
those Sections from those in the previous Section.

To get the roman numeral numbering in the Table of contents Section, add the
\* roman formatting switch to the { PAGE } field in that section

{ PAGE \* roman }

Hope this helps.

The TOC will reflect the numbers on the pages; for that, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...rontMatter.htm

To omit the Title style, remove the 1 beside it in the Table of Contents
Options dialog.
