Transferring Office 2007 To A New Computer with Preinstalled Stude
After many blue screens I fianlly bit the bullet and got a new computer w/
Vista64. I installed Office Pro 2007 from my original CDs. The new computer had a preinstalled home version of Word/Excel. Now Word Excel indicate that they are not for commercail use and do not have the full functionality of Office Pro 2007 that I loaded. (No Developer/Add-in functionality). Is there any way to get the complete functionality back that I had in the old computer? I am trying to avoid a complete do-over. Kevin |

I can't explain why, but you have to uninstall the Free Trial Version and
the Activation Assistant before installing any other version of Office. I don't know why it was not a marketing requirement to have all versions of Office '07 to check for the Trial Version and shut it down if running, then remove it automatically. I can see earlier versions, Office '03 for example, to not deal well with the Office '07 Free Trial Version, and require the User to Uninstall the Free Trail before installing '03. But all versions of Office '07 should be able to ascertain the existance of the Free Trial and handle it for you. What is happening to you is that because you did not uninstall the Free Trial, you are getting a report that you are invoking features of what you installed, but that are not supported by the stuff you did not remove. You have to remove (Add & Remove Programs) the free trial version, and the Activation Assistant. You probably have to Reinstall your copy of Office over the top of what you already installed. Thank-you Jeff.
I'll start the process.
