Default Some styles getting unwanted indent within tables

I use numerous paragraph styles within tables because I use table rows to
show procedure steps. Some, not all, of the styles within the tables suddenly
acquired an indent, and I can't get rid of it. If it's of interest, I had
recently been changing some formatting of list styles-- but these are among
the styles that didn't get the new bogus indent. But the new unwanted indent
didn't appear immediately after that.

If I look at an individual paragraph definition, the indent is sometimes
shown but usually not-- and it's never shown if I go to "Modify". I have
tried creating a new style and reassigning all instances of a certain style
to the new one, but the new one still has the indent. This may have to do
with table styles, because when I click Table Grid, the indent goes away
(along with quite a bit of other formatting). But how do I determine which
table style is in use, and why it's creating the indent? I never actually
defined a table style for this, but simply format a table the way I want it.

Two more details: my Normal style is not indented, and I changed "Based on
style" to "no style" for a few of these to see if it would help, but no.

Thanks for any advice.

I found a remedy for this but I still don't understand why it happened. On
one of the incorrectly indented paragraphs, I went into the style window and
clicked Clear Formatting. Whaddya know, the paragraph's style was now shown
as Normal Indent. So this style somehow got attached to the others. I don't
need this style in the first place (it was left over from an earlier template)
so I deleted it, and everything is now OK. Maybe this isn't even a table
issue-- something about styles, lists, I don't know. Can anyone shed light on
it?
